3 Halloween Safety Tips You’ll Want To Keep In Mind This Year

 Girl holding pumpkin on Halloween

Goons and goblins, oh my! Halloween is a few days away, and we’re sharing some Halloween safety tips you’ll want to keep in mind whether you’re taking your little one's trick-or-treating or setting up your own haunted house. Make sure you've planned ahead and that your spooky setup is ready for any potential risks that may be involved.

Plan your route beforehand

Depending on the age of your child, make sure to keep in mind their walking threshold. The last thing you’ll want to do is end up carrying a little one home. Map out the best route near your home and even bring along a wagon for little ones that may get tired fast. Make sure you dress accordingly, too! They might clash with your costume, but wearing comfortable shoes makes a huge difference when you’re going door to door.

Place decorations carefully

You can have a lot of fun decorating your home for Halloween! It’s important to be strategic and make sure that any of your outdoor or indoor decorations don’t cause a liability. Place decorations around the exterior of your home away from the pathway to your front door, making sure you have a clear path that will prevent tripping. If you’re using a fog machine or other scary outdoor decorations that require an outlet, make sure you do not overload electrical outlets.

Don’t advertise your homemade haunted house

Thinking about hosting your own haunted house? There are a couple of things to consider. If you’re charging an admission fee or if you’re advertising it on social media, be aware that you could be viewed as a business activity. Consult with your insurance agent to ensure you have the proper coverage needed.

Do you have questions about trick-or-treating or your Kissimmee homeowner's insurance policy? Don't be afraid to ask! At Harrell Insurance we're proud to be your go-to homeowner’s insurance agent in Central Florida located in Downtown Kissimmee.
